This is a 5-CD set that has the second 10 shows (check my other auctions for Volume 1 for the first 10 shows) from the popular Science-Fiction Radio Show…. Dimension X… Dimension X was the first serious SF anthology series that fully utilized published stories from established science fiction authors like Ernest Kinoy, Ray Bradbury, Robert Bloch, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Clifford Simak, Jack Williamson, Graham Doar, Donald Wollheim, and Kurt Vonnegut. Though it had an extremely low budget (there were only 2 – 3 sound effects people and they were real busy obviously), it was a definite favorite of the NBC staff and this passion made Dimension X the best SF radio anthology of the 1950s. It only aired from April 1950 through Sep 1951 Disc One There Will Come Soft Rain/Zero Hour This is a two-parter. The first tale is a story of an automated house which is still functioning after a major World War. The second tale deals with a bizarre game that the children are playing all over the country. A game they call “Invasion”… Destination Moon Under the threat of a governmental ban, a team of astronauts rush to get off to the moon… Disc Two A Logic Named Joe The moral of the story here is you gotta be careful of what you sow since you will be surprised by what you reap. This tale deals with computers which initially tended to most of the needs of man but then suddenly start attending to their own needs… Mars Is Heaven A classic from Ray Bradbury, this is the proverbial tale of astronauts who find houses on Mars very much like the houses on Earth from the 1920s… Disc Three The Man In The Moon The story begins with a broadcast by the Federal Missing Persons Bureau which is interrupted by a SOS message. Triangulating to locate the offender, they discover that the message came from the moon. The problem is that no one has been to the moon just yet…” Beyond Infinity This is an unusual tale of an European scientist who invented a machine that will shrink objects to the size of atoms and beyond… Disc Four Potters Of Firsk This is another unusual tale of natives in a remote world who are secretive about the beautiful pottery they make. And for a good reason… Perigi’s Wonderful Dolls This is the tale of a government official whose daughter finds a doll maker in Washington who makes dolls that talk… Disc Five The Castaways What do you do when the military is having a hard time with the natives on an island who will not leave the Pacific Island because their ancestors were castaways from the “Bird Canoe”?
